Industry Experiance

This page highlights my participation in promoting sustainable fashion and community engagement within the local fashion industry. My involvement in supporting a sustainability-focused designer at the Brother Sewing Machine Co. fashion show reflects my dedication to ethical practices and environmentally conscious design.

This section focuses on my contribution to sustainable fashion initiatives, emphasizing the importance of creativity and collaboration in reducing environmental impact. For this project, I created patchwork denim hats using scraps from old pairs of jeans. I carefully cut and pieced together different shades of denim to form unique, textured patterns, giving discarded materials a second life. These hats became a standout part of the designer’s eco-conscious collection presented at the Brother Sewing Machine Co. fashion show. Through this experience, I learned how sustainable fashion isn’t just about reusing materials, it’s about transforming waste into something new, meaningful, and expressive.

In today’s fashion industry, mastering draping techniques is key to creating accurate and professional designs. Draping allows designers to work directly with fabric, experiment with shapes and textures, and ensure every detail is carefully considered from initial concept to the finished garment.

Reflection:
Helping bring this collection to life showed me how much impact small sustainable choices can have in the fashion world. It was exciting to be part of a local event that celebrated creativity and responsibility. This experience made me want to keep learning how to design in ways that are not only stylish but also conscious of the environment.

Broader Impact and Relevance Statement:

Being part of a sustainable fashion show reminded me how much the industry can influence environmental awareness. Supporting designers who care about sustainability encourages more responsible production and inspires others to do the same. Moving forward, I hope to keep exploring ways to combine creativity and sustainability in my own work.
